Sven Coop How To Host

Sven Coop How To Host

Last weekend we had another rather successful evening that started off with Afraid of Monsters then rolled through about 8 to 9 hours of a bunch of different Sven Co-op maps, including such wonderful maps as the tower series which we never beat and most of They Hunger. Not going to lie, that was a really good time and it’s nice to start gathering players to start partaking in some of these stupid times. We also saw a few new faces in the mix which is always fun to have, so thanks for another successful DGDT evening to all who came out during the (stupidly) long stream. But, now we have new business to attend to.

Tonight we’re going to play some Vampire Slayer, which happens to be the first “real” “dead” game for this set of streams. It was a fairly popular Half-Life mod back in the day with some pretty fun and novel asymmetric gameplay for the time. The base mod centers around team deathmatch with a team of Slayers and a team of Vampires. The Slayers have a small array of somewhat conventional weapons that they can use to knockdown and then subsequently stake the Vampires. Key point here, you have to stake the Vampires after they’ve been knocked down otherwise they’ll just get right back up and kill you. Vampires can also jump higher and farther, have one innate special ability depending on who you pick, but the only drawback is they only have their claws to kill people with. Oh, and they can suck blood from corpses to get their health back up.

There’s also a Capture the Cross mode which works just like your average CTF game except it’s, well, it’s a cross.Sound like a good time? Of course it does, so swing on by the server tonight at for some more dead games and enjoy the best of what the early 2000s mod community had to offer! Well, maybe not the best, but hey it’s pretty fun all the same. LinksOne final note, this is our first time venturing out of Sven Co-op so it would be extremely helpful if you showed up and tried to fill our little server with people for the evening. We’d like to be able to venture out into other dead games more but it will definitely take a playerbase of people willing to play stuff each weekend to accomplish this. Categories: Tags:. Another weekend, another DGDT down.

Making good progress on this little project and the streams have been going pretty well. Poke646/Vendetta was pretty fun except for a number of issues with downloading when we had too many people without the map. My fault on that one, should’ve linked to the specific download to make sure people were ready to go and we didn’t have nearly as many people downloading the massive maps from my server. Also, the maps were way too narrow for co-op beyond 3-4 players. It’s a really well-made mod, but definitely not the best for larger player counts. On that note, we played the first episode of Quake 1 in Sven Co-Op after that, and barring a few bugs it was pretty damn good for the larger player count. We had to get creative in a few spots that weren’t ported correctly or well, but that added to the fun.

Also, Quake Deathmatch actually works pretty damn well in Sven Co-Op too. Really shows how much Half-Life is basically just an upgraded version of the Quake engine.

How To Host A Sven Coop Listen Server

I’m in the process of learning how to port maps for Sven Co-Op so we can do the full Quake 1 campaign some day instead of just the 1 episode that exists at the moment (also so I can fix bugs in the ones we played).Speaking of doing things, our stream relay bot is now able to relay chat from Discord and Twitch into Half-Life 1 (& Sven Co-Op) servers while the stream is active. So that’s a pretty cool little thing I’ve been working on. The next step for the bot is to allow viewers to vote for changing different server variables while they watch so they can fuck with the people playing in the server during streams.

Should be pretty fun.Anyway, on to this week! We’re going to be starting our official Spooktober DGDT streams with the campaign (!) It’s a big campaign, so download it ahead of time just in case and put it n your SteamsteamappscommonSven Co-opsvencoopaddon folder. Should help reduce strain on this webserver night of the stream and get you guys into the game faster.

Depending on how long the Afraid of Monsters campaign takes (or if we give up at some point because it wasn’t made for as many people as we’re throwing at it), we might also do the They Hunger campaign right afterwards. And get spooked by things. Also, another reminder that we’d really like you guys to show up for the on the 27th. It’s going to be us playing a legit dead game so we need as many people as we can to make sure it’s fun for everyone. Categories: Tags:. With the (somewhat abbreviated) run of Half-Life: Blue Shift in Sven Co-op the other night, we’ve officially run out of “official” Half-Life campaigns to run for each DGDT stream. Not a bad thing, though! Luckily for us there are a ton of pretty good single player mods out there, and some of them have even been ported to Sven Co-op.

Dedicated

Coming up this Saturday night we’ll be running, which is one of the more well-received single player mods to come out for Half-Life. If you want to experience this with a bunch of idiots hopping around and being absolutely ineffective at FPS games, make sure you swing on by the server at the time listed in the calendar (EST default).Speaking of new things in the calendar, I’ve also added in the next two streams for DGDT after this coming Saturday! They’re both going to be part of our October Spooktacular (which is totally a real thing that I made up and not just what everyone calls their Halloween-related events) for DGDT.

The first is, which is another single player mod that’s been converted for use in Sven Co-op and is extremely well-received. The developers went on to create which you can also play for free on Steam.

Get ready for something to be totally not scary at all because we’ll be doing it as a group, but maybe a few people will get spooked. Also, there’s no need to download anything if you want to take part in either Poke646/Vendetta or Afraid of Monsters. The weekend just before Halloween’s going to be a bigger deal because we’re going to stray from Sven Co-op for the first time in DGDT history (which is all of a month at this point) and play a multiplayer mod for Half-Life called! As the name implies, the game involves a team of slayers fighting a team of vampires, each with their own different skills and weapons. This stream will actually set the tone for future DGDT streams because it’ll show whether or not we can get enough players on a given weekend to play something that doesn’t have a built-in playerbase (like Sven Co-op does). If you’ve enjoyed taking part in these streams or just watching them, I highly recommend joining in on this particular weekend. If it does well, we will be better able to host nights for a larger variety of games in the future. So, that’s what the upcoming slate for Dead Games Done Together looks like. Hope you guys are looking forward to it like I am.

Updated:Categories: Tags:. Last night we had our second Dead Games Done Together stream and once again we had a pretty great time running through the fairly nonsensical campaign. Nonsensical in the sense that no one paid attention to any of the cut scenes or gave much of a shit about anything except using the alien licking grappling gun to create really terrible slurping sounds on a constant loop.

You know, pretty normal terrible things.Turn out was pretty good. Max player count this time around was only around 10 players which wasn’t too bad for a run, but definitely not enough for us to support playing other games that aren’t Sven Co-op yet. So that doesn’t mean anything bad, it just means we’ll be sticking with Sven Co-op for a little while longer until we can start to attract a few more people and players to start branching out into other mods and games. So, since we’re sticking with Sven Co-op, that means that after this coming weekend when we do our run, we’ll be sticking with Sven Co-op for at least one more week! I’ve just added to the schedule. You won’t have to do anything extra to join. Just show up at the time specified in the Event here on the site and get ready to play one of the better single player mods that’s hit the world of Half-Life (aside from maybe Echoes, which I hope we’ll get to try one of these days). If this weekend will be your first time joining us, all you need to do is install, then!
